We were given Clubmark status in 2006 and are at the moment going through the process of being reaccredited for the next three years.
Clubmark is a really important status for a sports club and is accredited by Sport England.
We have to go through a long process to qualify and we have to meet standards in certain areas, including our playing programme, duty of care and safeguarding and protecting young children and young people, sports equity and ethics and club management.
All our coaches have to be ECB qualified, which includes CRB checks, and appointed first aider status. That means we have to attend various courses on child protection, equity etc.
Clubmark opens up different avenues for grant funding. In a nutshell it shows we run a club for people of all ages, abilities and creeds in a safe environment.
The documents have to be adopted by the club as part of the Clubmark and are given to the members, senior and junior players etc.
Clubmark also enables us to be a Focus club in the county which means we are closer to the Devon Cricket Board. It also means we can deliver a Chance to Shine programme where we send coaches into six schools in Torquay for a 10-week period every year where they teach cricket as part of the school curriculum.
The following documents have been produced by Barton CC as part of our Clubmark scheme. We ask all players, coaches and parents to be aware of their responsibilities, so please read any of these documents that are relevant to you.
